7-31-06 I know this site is suppoesd to be dedicated to Track Cycling, but there's a great website that I would like to recommend to all my friends who read this site.  Everybody should really check out WWW.STOLENUNDERGROUND.COM  This is a great site with tons of editorials on the doping and drug situation in the sport today.  It is updated all the time and is written from the perspective of a Cyclist who got screwed by the "system"  If you have raced at the elite level then you already know how it works, but if you haven't this site will give you the jaw dropping truth.

7- 25- 06 I just posted some new pics from last Thursday's training session.  PHOTOS

7- 18- 06  Our Juniors definately represented Florida well at last weeks Junior National Championships.  Congratulations David Espinoza on bringing home your 1st National Championship. Photos

6-09-06 Pics are posted from last night's races in HERE.

Last nights sprint championships were a big success.  The third event in the Florida State Championships series had the largest field and most spectators so far.  The night started with a 200m Time Trial to seed the Sprint Tournament.  The top 12 moved to sprint rounds and the non qualifiers continued the night with 2 scratch races.  Thank you goes out to Roger Hernandez and Mundo Culturista for supplying prize packages for the top three sprinters of the night.  Thank you to Debbie DiSario for spending her night doing a color commentary to keep the crowd into the racing.  Also thank you Carlos Laborde and Jason "Mini Me" for your help during the races and the great peel out in the parking lot afterward.

5-30-06 Race report, results and all photos for the 2006 State Pursuit Championship have now been posted.

5-26-06 The weather held out last night for a great evening of Pursuits.  There was a good turnout and this race, like the Kilo was pretty hotly contested.

Last year there were only 4 riders to break the 5:30 mark.  Last night there were 8 riders faster than that mark.  The winner was defending State Champ Alex Zambrana with a time of 5:13.  Pics are posted and results will be up as soon as I get them.

Don't forget that in two weeks is the State Match Sprint championships.  Don't miss it!!

5-14-06 Thank you Brad and Yati Thaler for filming and updating our Video section.  We've just added two of the Kilos from the State Championships earlier this month.

5-19-06 I've just posted photos from Last night's races in the PHOTOS section or click here.

I've added a pursuit schedule calculator to help plan your pursuit for next week click here to download.  Pursuit Calculator

5-17-06 There will be $500 prize money up for grabs at the Tuesday night Brian Piccolo Park Criterium Tuesday, May 30!!  This is made possible thanks to WINGZFLYING.COM click this link to check out their site.

5-15-06 I've just added some new photos taken Thursday night by Paul Berg, and the race report as well.  ENJOY!!  Photos                 Race Report

5-12 06 Results from last night's Kilometer championships have been posted. HERE

5-12-06 Thank you to everyone who showed up for the Kilometer championships last night.  We had a good turnout with a few more riders than last year.  Conditions were breezy and warm, but that didn't stop the riders from throwing down some blistering times!!  No one has posted a time faster than 1:12 in competition at this track since the World Cup Qualifier was held here in February of 2004.  Last night two people went under.  One other thing I noticed is that in 2004 and 2005 the winning time was 1:12 and there were four people under 1:15.  Last night there were TWO riders in the 1:10's and about SIX under 1:15.  The competition was hot!! I've posted some pics submitted by Eddie the Argentinian here.  I'll be posting videos and more pics as soon as I get them.

Check out out new VIDEOS section either on the main page or by clicking anywhere on this line.

5-05-06 Last night was a great night out at the track.  There was a pretty good turnout with everyone doing solo timed races to get ready for next week's State Championship Kilo.  The level of competition at the track is really picking up!  A lot of PR's were broken and times are getting faster.  Congratulations to everyone who was out there.  I will post times as soon as I get them.

5-01-06 Click here to see the race report archive including the new hot off the presses April 27 race report!!

4-28-06 Last night was an other awesome night at the track.  There were about 15 people out last night which is a few more than last week, and hopefully there will be more people next week.  Our thoughts go out to David Espinoza who crashed twice last night.  We hope you feel better soon.  Last night we did a 9 lap scratch race, a handicap race and everyone did a 200 meter time trial.  There was also a match sprint with Kevin McGuire the Junior going head to head with Mailman Mike.  I will post the race report as soon as I receive it.

DON'T FORGET the STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS are coming up.  We will run one Championship event every other Thursday starting May 11 with the Kilometer Time Trial.  After the main event there will be 2 other races. Check the link to the CALENDAR for the rest of the State Championship Events.

4-24-06 Last Thursday April 20 was the first Thursday of racing this year.  We had a pretty good turnout considering that some of the usual suspects were unable to make it out.  I'll be getting the results in the next day or so and they'll be posted once I get them.  There was a ten lap scratch race, a handicap race and an unknown distance.  There were also three exhibition 500m time trials.  For pics click here.

4-12- 06 Last week I got my Clemente frame.  I know this is a Track site and this is a road bike, but I'm very excited and had to write about it.  Also, keep an eye out for the Custom Clemente Kilo frame. Click here to read my review and see pics.

4-9- 06 We have video footage from last Thursday's training.  Last week we did three Keirins with Mike Felling acting as the motor. To watch the videos right click on the link below and you'll see the choices. and save them to your computer then play from your hard drive.  If you just click the link it will be choppy and might now work.  Thank you to Brad Thaler for sending.

3-3-06 I just found out there's going to be a track race SUNDAY, MARCH 12.  Racing will start at 11am.  We're expecting a great turnout.  Don't miss this one!!!

There will be races for beginners and more experienced riders.  Everyone is welcome!!!

2-27-06 I just found out that the lights are still out and that there will be no nighttime riding till they're fixed.  I'm going to try to get some Sunday races lined up till the lights come back on, but can't guarantee anything.  Thank you to everyone who has been patiently waiting.  I promise that when night racing resumes it's going to be great.

2-22-06 I'm very excited to announce a new addition to the site that will be up shortly.  Our favorite local rider Mike Felling is going to be doing a race recap.  Click on the picture below for the race recap from Sunday, February 19.  If anyone has any comments, is interested in adding their views to the race recap or would like to write their own please email me at floridatrackcycling@yahoo.com

2-22-06 One of our big supporters Clemente Cycles is now making CUSTOM CARBON FRAMES. The frames are made from top quality Dedacciai tubing and are basically the same frames that MOSER, Corratec and most companies offer in stock sizes and geometries. The big difference is, while these frames are either made by machine or in a factory in taiwan, expert framebuilder is putting attention to detail and your needs building these frames by hand. Clemente will also make them Custom fit for you for a lot less than these big names are charging for a mass produced frameset. Do you know where your COLNAGO is made or who makes it?? Cost for a Custom Carbon Clemente Frameset will be $1600- $2600. For info on the Carbon Clemente click here. Pics of his carbon work will be posted soon.

2-22-06 I have the results from Sunday's informal races.  Informal didn't mean not intense.  Three races had three different winners.  We also had Steve beat his personal best standing lap by almost 2 full seconds.  Keep up the good work.

2-21-06 Thank you to Jason who helped coordinate some unofficial races on Sunday.  Unfortunately Carlos, our only official had to be out of town, and without Jason we would've been left to do paceline work.  Also, thank you to everyone who showed up to race.  I heard a rumor that due to the Masters 75+ recumbent races this weekend the scheduled races for this weekend have been cancelled.  I will confirm this as soon as I get a definate answer.  We have pics from Sunday and they are under the Feb Race Series button on the photos page or you can click here.  Thank you Paul and Harriett.

Carlos Clemente has recently finished the track frameset and stem he's been working n for Kirk Albers of the Professional Jelly Belly Cycling team.  What a beautiful frameset, I can't wait to get mine.  Click here to see pics.

2-17-06 Last night I had the chance to check out the new DOWNTOWN BICYCLES STORE on Sunrise Blvd.  Kudos to Mario and Valentina, this place is one of the nicest bike shops I've ever seen.  Even if you're not looking to buy a bike or any new equipment you should really check out the new place.  This weekend they are having a huge grand opening party with a halfpipe set up in the parking lot with X-Games riders performing.  They will be having drawing for a FREE Bike and many other specials.  For directions check out www.downtownbicycles.com

2-16-06 Local framebuilder Carlos Cruz of Clemente Cycles has been getting some national recognition lately.  He was recently interviewed by Fixed Gear Gallery about his frames and some of the processes involved in building a custom frameset.  Click here to read the interview.

2-13-06 Unfortunately due to a small turnout from the weather yesterday's  races were cancelled.  I'll be speaking with the officials about the possibility of double points on the last race of the Feb series.  Keep checking back for more info.

2-10-06 WE HAVE SOME PICS FROM SUNDAY'S RACES.  PLEASE CLICK HERE OR PHOTOS BUTTON ON TOP TO VIEW.

2-8-06 We have the results from last Sunday's races. These will be added to the results page soon.  I just wanted to get them up as soon as possible.

2-06-06 Yesterday was the first race of the February Track Series.  Things went very well.  It's really exciting to come out to the track and have good turnout.  We had a nice turnout with some agressive racing.  The chilly weather and some hard racing contributed to some sore lungs afterwards.  Check back for the full results, and omnium standings.

2-1-06 Don't forget the first track races of the year will be this Sunday at 11am.  Depending on the turnout we will have an  A and B category.  There should be 3 or 4 events per category.  Come on out and build a great foundation for a long season.

A big thank you goes out to Larry DiSario for taking time out of his busy schedule to offer a Madison clinic last Sunday.  There was a very enthusiastic turnout and a lot of people that are new to the track.  Everyone had a great time and we will be offering an other class soon.  Info on dates will be posted as soon as they are firm.

1-9-06 We will be holding a Madison Clinic on Sunday January 29 at 9am.   Everyone is welcome from beginners to experienced riders.  Come and learn about the ultimate event in bike handling skills.  If you have any questions please email me at floridatrackcycling@yahoo.com   I hope to see you out there.

FEB RACE SCHEDULE - Races will be held:

Sunday Feb. 5, Sunday Feb.12, Sunday Feb.19 and Saturday Feb.24.  Racing will start at 11am.  Race fliers should be out by tomorrow and you can pick them up at any local bike shop this weekend.

LIGHTS will be fixed by the second week in February.  I just found out that three of the stadium lights needed to be re-wired and they needed to replace 33 bulbs.  Unfortunately special equipment and expertise is needed to do this and that's why it is taking so long.

1-4-06 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!  We've just confirmed a new sponsor for the February Race Series.  Mundo Culturista supplements and personal training.  More details coming soon.  Below are some local companies that have been big supporters of this site and Track Cycling in 2005.  Please support our sponsors and when possible.

12-28-05 I hope everyone's holiday season is going well.  If you have not already started your training for next year, you better get on it.  Plans are almost finalized for a February race series.  If all goes to plan there will be races Sundays, Feb 5, 12 and 19 starting at 11am.   Word is on the street and we will have riders representing JC Investors, Aerospace Engineering Group, Lazer ES, Bike America/Potter's Lawn, Z's Bike & Fitness and many other teams.  Don't miss this great chance to race at our beautiful track and get fit.

11-11-05 We've just added a new "Interviews" section.  From time to time I will be conducting interviews with some of the influential people in the Track scene. My first interview was done with Carlos Clemente of Clemente Cycles.  Click here learn about the man behind the torch.

11-10-05 Thank you to all who are purchasing tickets.  They are going very quickly and we have just about 50 left.  Due to the success of this raffle we will be working on another contest once the winner of this one's frame is finished.

It's important to mention that Clemente cycles has donated his time to build this frame.  Money received from this raffle will be  used to in three ways.

1)Materials used to build the frame

2)Support local Elite and Junior Track riders

3)Promotion, Organization and prize money for local Track Races

9-7-05 WE HAVE OUR MESSAGEBOARD BACK!!!!!  Click here to check it out.  Please post any suggestions regarding the track or track racing.

8-30-05 I'm hearing rumors of some UPCOMING TRACK RACES in the wings.  I believe that they are going to hold the Junior State Track Championships the first weekend in November.  I also heard that Team Pursuit and Team Sprint State Championships will be held the last week in November and the first week of December respectively.  Keep checking back for the latest updates.

EDITORIAL NOTE: Since the messageboard is currently down I'm going to post my comment here.  A couple suggestions for the upcoming races:

1)  Since there are so few Juniors that race track at this time it might make sense to include some racing for seniors as well.  That will help to bring a bigger crowd to watch and support the racing.  It will also bring a more competitive atmosphere to the competition.

2)  Since we still need to hold a State Championship in Keirin, Team Sprint, Team Pursuit and Scratch races I would like to propose running them in consecutive weeks rather than  multiple State Championship events in one night.  This way everyone can compete in every championship race.  If we hold more than one championship event per night then the sprinters would  be too tired to compete in the endurance events and vice versa.  That should help to bring a bigger fields and tougher competition to these races.

3)  In addition to Championship events hold 3 non championship races each race night.  Have some of them short and some longer distances so everyone can benefit.

4)  If you have any suggestions or if you are interested in putting up some sponsorship money to help offset the costs of putting on these races, and give us the ability to offer prize money please email me at floridatrackcycling@yahoo.com

8-29-05 I have pictures from Masters Nationals in Indy.  Please click here to see them.  The only photos I can get are small thumbnails, but you can view and purchase the full sized pics at www.indysportphotos.com

8-25-05 Early results from Masters Track Nationals in Indianapolis.  In the 35-39 category Roger Hernandez of Miami qualified 4th in the 200m with a time of 11.886 sec and Humberto Pages also of Miami took the last qualifying spot, 6th with a time of 11.930.  In the 60-64 group Earl Henry had the fastest time with a 12.156.  In the 500m TT Earl Henry added another National title to his resume with a 38.085.  If you are a Florida rider and I didn't post your results please write to me at floridatrackcycling@yahoo.com.  This afternoon I will have results for the Individual Pursuit.
